I am now an Amazon.com Associate which basically means that if you buy books, CDs, movies, or whatever from Amazon.com through my site by using one of the links on this page then I could eventually see a check from them. You can find out more information about the Associates program here , if you're interested in the details. When I do get a check from Amazon, I will donate the money to the Paul Steiger Memorial Scholarship fund at Marquette University. So please feel free to buy through this site if you wish.

If you want to purchase one of the recommended books on my list below, just click on the link by the book. If you want some other product from Amazon.com, just use the graphic above to search their site.

Some Good Books:

  • Snow Falling on Cedars -- David Guterson - Actually, I'm still reading this so I won't review it but it's good so far. I just haven't read too much lately and wanted to at least keep this page a little more current. Check out the archives below for past recommendations.

Book archives (Books that I have recommended but needed to archive because this page is getting long.)

Some good movies we've seen lately:

  • Run Lola Run - Or, Lola rennt for those of you who speak German. A very enjoyable movie where Lola tries to get 100,000 Marks in twenty minutes to save her boyfriend's life.
  • The Matrix - Really cool. Some science fiction, lots of cool special effects, and a little gunplay. What more can you ask for in a movie?
  • Rounders - Pretty good movie. Makes the list because every male who's ever played poker wishes he was as good as these guys.
  • Trainspotting - Actually, only one of us liked this movie but that person is the one updating the web so this movie makes the list!
  • Analyze This - Pretty enjoyable. Not great, but worth a rental.
  • A Simple Plan - Bill Paxton's great in this, as is Billy Bob Thornton.

Finally, what you should be watching on TV (but probably aren't):
