What's new? Thursday September 16, 1999 Hurricane Floyd update: We got a lot of wind and rain but the hurricane stayed near the coast and didn't follow the original path which would have been worse for us. There's been a lot of flooding in the state but we don't have any creeks or rivers very close to our house so we're okay as far as that goes. Apparently they received around 19" of rain in Wilmington. There's no work today mainly due to the street flooding here and there and also because they didn't know what the situation would be like today. I'll be in tomorrow, though. We were extremely lucky with the power situation. I think we only lost electricity for 15-30 minutes sometime in the middle of the night. That's about it for now, I just thought you might want to know the situation from Hurricane Floyd. Take care! -- Gerry |
