What's new?

Monday October 18, 1999

Hi, sorry that this site's been relatively quiet lately but until everyone chips in and buys me a state of the art digital camera you'll just have to wait until I finish a roll of film!

You know how you always hear people say that you shouldn't give dogs chocolate because it's bad for them and could even kill them? Our dog likes to live on the edge. She stole several Halloween-sized Crunch bars and managed to eat them and their wrappers. It turns out that what's bad for the dog isn't chocolate, or the caffeine in the chocolate, but rather it's her owners' reactions when they find a bag of candy bars on the kitchen floor.

I'd like to thank the Vikings for returning to form and continuing to keep my universe in balance. For a very short time it looked like I might have a hugely successful team to follow but now my life is back to normal. Dennis Green should have probably resigned at halftime of the Lions/Vikings game yesterday. It's just a good thing that I've been a St. Louis Rams fan since way back in week 3. The Vikings are 2-4 but the Gophers are ranked? Weird.

A couple of weeks ago we took care of our neighbor's four year old boy for the weekend while they were out of town. In an effort to keep everyone active and occupied, we went to Chuck E. Cheese's one night for pizza. How, exactly, do they get people to work there? Is there some sort of ownership program for the employees or something? Rachel and David acted fine since they're still pretty young but there seemed to be about 100 wild five and six year olds who had apparently been pumped up with extra adrenaline, caffeine, and sugar. Basically it looked like the junior version of a navy ship arriving to a new port.

That's about all for now. Take care!

-- Gerry
